#Star wars episode 9 script leak full
I would love to see the full document leak, and at this rate, that could happen fairly soon.įollow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

TROS will be divisive indefinitely in Star Wars history, but this Duel of the Fates version would have been no less controversial, I’m guessing, between its Sith tentacle monsters and bitter end for Ben. It’s pretty hard to know how this would all translate to screen based not even on a script, but a summary of a script, but there are certainly elements of it I like. I did like TROS redeeming Ben, but it came at the cost of making the ending almost identical to Vader’s arc in ROTJ, so it’s interesting to see that fail in this version. And even if the Resistance wins in the end, this does sound like kind of a bleak ending. Losing Jedi and Sith is bad for marketing. Produced by Lucasfilm and Abrams' production company Bad Robot Productions, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the third. I like the idea of embracing what Rian Johnson did rather than trying to rewrite all of it, especially by going deeper into the “grey Jedi” idea that TROS doesn’t wrestle with at all.Īnd yet it’s kind of easy to see why Disney might reject a story like this. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (also known as Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker) is a 2019 American epic space opera film produced, co-written, and directed by J. Is this “better” than Rise of Skywalker? To me, it sounds like it could be. Rey and Kylo’s final conflict happens on Mortis, a Clone Wars show planet that exists in the “realm of the Force.” There’s a large battle on Coruscant with the other characters and Chewie flies an X-Wing at one point.įorce ghosts of Luke, Yoda and Obi-Wan appear to try to save Ben, but he’s too far gone for that to work. Rather, the “reveal” in the film is that Kylo Ren actually murdered her parents on the orders of Snoke. Rey’s parents are not rewritten to be anyone of significance.

Part of Kylo’s training with him is fighting a copy of Vader similar to Luke on Dagobah. Tor Valum is revealed to be a 7000 year old “Lovecraftian” alien.

Kylo forges a new mask out of Mandalorian beskar. There are echoes of Last Jedi set-up in here as Rey and Ben talk about wanting to move past traditional Jedi and Sith dichotomies, with Leia at one point describing Rey as “something new.” Rey has designed her own weapon, a dual-bladed lightsaber that combines her staff and Luke’s saber. Luke actually has a larger role in this film as a Force Ghost than he did in Rise of Skywalker, appearing both to Kylo Ren, to try to lure him back to the Light Side, and also Rey, to help her continue her training. Naturally, Kylo wants to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps so he goes out searching for Tor Valum. It’s not clear if this is meant to be Darth Plagueis or someone else entirely. Kylo Ren, meanwhile, finds a holocron left behind by Emperor Palpatine, meant for Darth Vader, telling him to seek out Palpatine’s master, named Tor Valum, to finish his Dark Side training.
